The Selma Quarterback Club, organized in 1941, is the second oldest quarterback club in Alabama. Our purpose is to promote fellowship through football, stress the spirit of the game and its lessons and improve football knowledge all while providing scholarship opportunities.
The Selma Quarterback Club, through the J. Harmon Carter Scholar Athlete Foundation, awards five $4000 scholarships to young athletes in our community that played high school football. The scholarships are awarded based on academics, participation in school and community activities and financial need.
Like the Foundation, each scholarship is named in honor of members who contributed significantly to the club.
J. HARMON CARTER SCHOLARSHIP: J. Harmon Carter, a former Club Captain and an active member of the Club for almost 50 years, was among a small group that guided the Club for many years. He was responsible for initially funding the Scholarship Foundation, which is named in his honor.
“Big” Fred Davis II Scholarship:

Striplin, Jr., a former Club Captain and an active Club member for more than 20 years, served as Program Chairman or has assisted the Program Chairman for most of his term of membership.
